Version 1.2 is currently being rolled out. It is now on Google Play and Amazon App Store and will be available on iOS in the next few days. The current version number is 1.2.3 on all platforms.
Key features of this update are:
Tactical Maps: These maps are designed to hold characters and show their position relative to each other to support games that benefit from knowing distance and line of sight. You can design the map from your portable device in Edit mode and then put the map in Play mode to see it from various characters’ point of view.
Landscape Mode: The entire app now has a landscape orientation. This change is significant because it makes the Legend of Us RPG Sidekick much easier to use on larger device. Also, the Map maker benefits quite a bit from this change. You can use it in Portrait or Landscape mode, but in most cases I believe you will prefer to use it in Landscape.
D&D 5.0 template update: With continued use, character templates will continue to evolve. The 5.0 template now features folders for each Ability stat. In these folders you will find the ability value, the ability modifier, ability checks and saves, and all skills associated with that ability. I have found this format to be very newbie friendly so I have updated the default template. As always, you can change it as you see fit to create your own template and then duplicate your custom template as many times as you like.
- There was a bug that occurred if you imported more than one image in a row into the character image library; this is now fixed.
- In version 1.2 there was a bug that caused map icons to become corrupted if you exit a map from Play mode. This was fixed in 1.2.2
- in Version 1.2 there was an issue with alert windows not closing properly, and because alert windows weren’t opening you couldn’t interact with your Dropbox account or email a character sheet. This has been fixed in 1.2.3
- If you attempt to access the character placement menu in the map editor when there are no characters available to the map, the app will crash. You are only vulnerable to this bug if you create a new map after placing all of your characters in a different map. This will be fixed in version 1.2.4. In the meantime, the work around is simply to create a new character and then try to open the menu.
